WAKO (IF) MEMBER OF SPORTACCORD AND INTERNATIONAL WORLD GAMES ASSOCIATION (IWGA) WHICH ARE RECOGNIZED ORGANIZATIONS OF INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE (IOC)
“World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO IF)” is the only sole international kickboxing federation member of SportAccord (formally known as GAISF) and International World Games Association (IWGA).
About WAKO (IF):
World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO IF) officially considerate as governing body of Kickboxing sport in the World. WAKO can count on more than 118 affiliated national kickboxing federation/associations among which more than 85 are officially recognized by either their National Olympic Committees or by their Government Sport Authorities. WAKO “KICKBOXING” is included in SportAccord World Combat Games as official sport since 2010 which are held under the patronage of IOC. WAKO as being member of SportAccord & IWGA, has also adopted and became member of WAKO is a member of World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) and International Fair Play Organization.
Today WAKO estimates counts on a total of 3,000,000 of kickboxers and no less than 25,000 clubs around the globe. And promote, national and international, more than 1,000 amateur events a year.
GAISF Previously Known as SportAccord (https://gaisf.sport/) is recognized organization of International Olympic Committee (IOC) with the mission and vision as follows:
- GAISFis the UNION for both Olympic and non-Olympic international sports federations as well as organisers of international sporting events.
- GAISF’s mission is to UNITE and SUPPORT its members in the co-ordination and protection of their common aims and interests, while conserving and respecting their autonomy.
- We encourage and facilitate knowledge sharing among members and provide expertise in relevant areas such as anti-doping, social responsibility, integrity, digital media. By establishing various multi-sports games that group together similar sports, we aim to promote our members and increase their visibility.
GAISF members:
- 92 Full Members: international sports federations governing specific sports worldwide;
- 16 Associate Members: organisations which conduct activities closely related to the international sports federations.
SPORTACCORD WORLD COMBAT GAMES: “KICKBOXING” (Regular Sports):
Held under the patronage of International Olympic Committee (IOC)
It is a stage for martial arts and combat sports held under the patronage of International Olympic Committee (IOC). SportAccord World Combat Games showcase 15 Olympic and non-Olympic martial arts and combat sports, among them Aikido, Boxing, Fencing, Judo, Ju-Jitsu, Karate, Kendo, Kickboxing, Muaythai, Sambo, Savate, Sumo, Taekwondo, Wrestling, and Wushu. Featuring the best athletes of each sport, the Games are a top-quality sporting event and are about more than just sports. They are accompanied by a rich and entertaining cultural program that reflects the ancient traditions and values of martial arts as well as well as their contribution to the modern society.
SportAccord World Combat Games 2013, St. Petersburg, Russia:
St. Petersburg was the host city of the 2013 SportAccord World Combat Games. International Sports Federations which participated in the 2013 SportAccord World Combat Games were: International Aikido Federation (IAF), International Boxing Association (AIBA), International Judo Federation (IJF), International Ju Jitsu Federation (JJIF), International Federation of Muaythai Amateur (IFMA), World Karate Federation (WKF), International Kendo Federation (FIK), World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO), World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA), International Wushu Federation -IWUF, International Fencing Federation (FIE), International Federation of Amateur Sambo (FIAS), International Savate Federation (FISav), International Sumo Federation (IFS)
INTERNATIONAL WORLD GAMES ASSOCIATION (IWGA):
International World Games Association (IWGA) (www.theworldgames.org) is recognized organization of International Olympic Committee (IOC).
WAKO “KICKBOXING” Joins IWGA:
The International World Games Association welcomed WAKO as new member federation into The World Games family. During the IWGA’s Annual General Meeting in Belek/Turkey, the delegates voted in favour of the admission of the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO).
THE WORLD GAMES 2017, Wroclaw City, Poland:
The World Games 2017, the 10th edition of the multi-sport event will take part from 3 August to 13 August 2017. The World Games take place every four years in the year following the Olympic Games. The event showcases more 25 sports, for example Dance Sport, Squash, Tug of War, Sumo and Karate. Approximately 4,500 athletes and officials from more than 100 countries take part in The World Games. As a new member of IWGA, for the first time WAKO “KICKBOXING” has been included in the 2017 World Games as invitational sports.
THE ASSOCIATION (IWGA):
Since its founding meeting in Seoul, Korea 1980, IWGA membership increased from 12 to currently 37 International Sports Federations (IFs). For IFs to become a Member of the IWGA, their membership with SportAccord (formerly GAISF) is prerequisite. The IWGA is a member of SportAccord and represented on its Council. Another requirement is that the sports, or disciplines of sports, proposed by the federations for inclusion in The World Games are not currently on the program of the Games of the Olympiad.
The International World Games Association is an organization recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Affirming that IOC and IWGA share the same values of promoting physical and sporting activities for the well-being of society, the two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2000. In this MoU the IOC pledges to maintain its cooperation with the IWGA, to provide expertise and to help in the promotion of IWGA activities within the Olympic Movement. The IOC also grants its patronage to the hosts of The World Games and provides the Local Organizing Committees with technical assistance through its knowledge management programs.
The IWGA is aware of the importance for athletes and officials in all sports to participate in The World Games as nationally representative delegations. To achieve that, the IOC encourages all National Olympic Committee to support and assist their multi-sport delegation taking part in the event.

In particular, this event provides participating athletes with the opportunity to join with their countrymen and countrywomen from other sports, in the Olympic spirit, and compete as part of a national team at the highest level.”

WORLD ANTI DOPING AGENCY (WADA):
WAKO as being member of SportAccord & IWGA, has also adopted and became member of World Anti Doping Agency (WADA).
WAKO/WAKO ASIA/ WADA approved Anti Doping Rules. WAKO/WAKOASIA/WADA work to ensure that athletes benefit from the same anti-doping protocols and protections, no matter the nationality, the sport, or the country where tested. The ultimate goal is safe and fair competition worldwide.

About Asian Kickboxing COnfederation (WAKO ASIA):
Kickboxing was recognized by Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) on 9th September 2005 during the General Assembly. Accordignly During the 50th OCA Executive Board meeting held in Almaty on 28th of May 2007, decisions was taken to grant recognition to Asian Kickboxing Confederation (WAKO ASIA) as the body in charge of Kickboxing sport in Asia and include kickboxing as a demonstration sports during the 2nd Asian Indoor Games in Macau. Accordingly, Kickboxing sport under WAKO Asia as governing body had been regularly included in 2007 Macau 2nd Asian Indoor Games as demo sport then as official sport in 2009 Thailand 1st Asian Martial Arts Games, 2009 Vietnam 3rd Asian Indoor Games and recently at 2013 Korea 4th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games and will continue again in 5th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games 2017, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
OLYMPIC COUNCIL OF ASIA (OCA):
The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is the apex sporting body which controls all the sports in Asia. It is one of the five continental associations recognized by the IOC.
The OCA was formed in 1982 and has its permanent headquarters in Kuwait. The main objective of the OCA is to develop sport, culture and education of Asian youth as well as to promote international respect, friendship, goodwill & peace through sports.
The Olympic Council of Asia organises five major multi-sports events to reflect the diverse sporting culture - and climate – throughout the continent. The events give the opportunity to athletes in a wide variety of sports to represent their country or region in top-level competition and promote sport and a healthy lifestyle to all.

About WAKO INDIA:
National Kickboxing Federation N. G. (WAKO INDIA) leaded by Mr. C A Tamboli is the only Indian National Kickboxing Organization being member of and fully recognized by WAKO (IF) and WAKO ASIA with its national headquarter at Sr. No. 59B, Purandar Colony, Shrinagar, Rahatni, Pune - 411017, Maharashtra, India.
Mr. C A Tamboli the President of WAKO INDIA a part of its occasional function as an International Referee and Jury member of WAKO ASIA, he is a development officer of WAKO ASIA for South Asia and in charge of coordination of WAKO Asia activities in South Asia.
Recently in 2012, WAKO ASIA with collaboration with Maharashtra Kickboxing Association (member WAKO INDIA) successfully hosted the “WAKO Asian Kickboxing Championships 2012” from 25th to 30th December at Pune, India with the sanction of Ministry of Sports, Govt. of India (At No Cost to Govt.) where participation of 171 athletes from across 15 Asian countries took place. At the same time there also took place the qualifications for SportAccord World Combat Games 2013, where 4 Indian athletes were qualified from among 12 weight categories.

WAKO ASIA is working hard to develop the sport of Kickboxing in Asia, particularly in India. WAKO INDIA has been one of the most active organizations in South Asia, which have developed enormously in the past few years both in quality and in figures. We and our 28 State/ UT Kickboxing Associations regularly conducts district, state, national championships and participate in WAKO (IF), WAKO ASIA official events across all age groups male and female. And also participated in all OCA’s events with the sanction of Indian Olympic Association as per the guideline of Ministry of Sports, Govt. of India and won numerous medals i.e. OCA’s Asian Indoor Games in Macau 2007, Vietnam 2009; Asian Martial Arts Games in Thailand 2009 and; Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Korea 2013.
